Pelvic floor:
Low tone - weakness and injury
High tone - overactivity
Poor coordination
Muscle dysfunction:
Pain syndromes
Prolapse of internal organs
Poor core stabilization
What is the general approach with these patients
Education, exercises, manual techniques, biofeedback, electrical stim, insertion techniques or proprioceptive balloon techniques.

Education:
- increase water intake
- decrease caffeine + alcohol
- avoid constipation
- contract pelvic floor before and during activity
- Use a urine diary (5-8x per day)
- avoid constipation
Things to consider
Many patients wish they had been referred years ago.
Need to go 5 - 8x per day
Sex should not be painful
Female athletes primarily have issues with incontinence
