Pelvic Content- Male Flashcards
Vas deferens
Tube that runs from the testicles to the prostate
Parts of vas deferens
Ampulla of the vase deferens: storage of all spermatozoa that came from the testicle
- joins to the seminal vesicle and forms the ejaculatory duct that goes through the prostate gland
Arterial supply of the vas deferens
Differential artery: branch of the inferior vesical artery; anastomoses with the testicular artery
Veins of Vas deferens
Deferntial vein
Lymphatic drainage of the vas deferens
External lymph nodes (located at the level of the inguinal region)
Innervation of the vas deferens
Inferior hypogastric plexus
Seminal Vesicles
DO NOT STORE SPERM
Function: produce fluid that will be expelled with sperm during ejaculation
Located: between the fundus of the bladder and the rectum
Located at the rectovesical pouch and separates these from the rectum
Will join to vas deferens (ampulla) to form the ejactulatory duct)
Arterial Supply of the seminal vesicle
Inferior vesical artery and middle rectal artery
Veins of the Seminal vesicles
Inferior vesical and middle rectal veins
Lymphatic drainage of the Seminal Vesicles
Internal iliac lymph nodes
Nerves of the Seminal Vesicles
Inferior hypogastric plexus
Ejaculatory ducts
Union of the ampulla of vas deferens and the seminal vesicles
Arterial supply of the ejaculatory ducts
Deferential artery
Venous supply of ejaculatory ducts
prostatic and vesical plexus
Lymphatic drainage of the ejaculatory ducts
external iliac lymph nodes
Innervation of the Ejaculatory ducts
Inferior hypogastric plexus
Prostate gland
MAIN GLAND OF THE MALE
It is covered by a Prostatic capsule: thick fibrous prostatic sheath
Parts of the Prostate gland
Base (neck of the bladder)
Apex
Anterior surface: muscular tissue
Posterior surface: close contact with ampulla of rectum
Inferiolateral surface: close contact with the levator ani muscles
Lobes of the Prostate gland
Anterior Lobe (Isthmus): anterior to the urethra; fibromuscular; scanty glands
Middle Lobe: composed of scanty glands; the main area of adenocarcinoma of prostate glands
Posterior Lobe: posterior to the urethra; palpable rectal exam (Benign Prostate hypertrophy)
Lateral lobe: each side of the urethra; abundant glands- produce some of the fluid that is expelled during ejaculation
Prostatic ducts
The prostatic sinus receives main ducts from the prostatic glands
The prostatic sinus opens into the prostatic ducts
Arterial supply of Prostate Gland
Inferior vesical artery
Internal pudendal and middle rectal artery
Venous supply of the Prostate gland
Prostatic and vesical plexus
Lymphatic Drainage of the Prostate Gland
Internal iliac and sacral lymph nodes
Innervation of the Prostate Gland
Parasympathetic: pelvic splanchinic (S2-S4)
Sympathetic: inferior hypogastric plexus
