Q

Nerves of the Vagina

A
  • Uterovaginal plexus from the inferior hypogastric plexus
  • Have both sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves

Sympathetic portion

  • Lower thoracoespinal cord to lumbar splanchnic nerves and hypogastric plexus

Parasympathetic

  • S2-S4 to pelvic splanchinic nerve to hypogastric plexus

Lower 1/5th of the vagina is somatic: from deep perineal branch of the pudendal nerve S2-S2 (Patient can feel pain)
