What are the types of nephrotic syndrome
MOST COMMON-Minimal change disease- some epithelial fusion
Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis- atrophy and sclerosis
Membranous glomerulonephritis- thickening
Membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis
What is the treatment for nephrotic syndrome? What are some complications
Steroids- prednisone for 4-6 weeks and a taper. Renal failure, SBP, thromboembolic events
What are the features of nephritic syndrome?
hematuria, hypertension, BUN and creatitine elevation
What is hemolytic uremic syndrome
It is hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and renal failure AFTER a diarrheal illness (ecoli )157 H7 toxin in typical disease or other causes in atypical disease

What are the components of a FSWU
CBC, Blood culture
Urinalysis, Urine culture
LP
PCR for viruses
+/- CXR, stool culture, NP swab
Empiric antibiotics for neonatal sepsis if suspecting meningitis
Ampicillin, cefotaxime
Empiric antibiotics suspecting no meningitis
Ampicillin, gentamicin
Empiric antibiotics suspecting HSV
Add acyclovir
