A
- intense itching
- small,red bumps on the scalp due to lice bites
- nits on hair shaft that look like dandruff

A
lice is commonly found behind the ears and is most often found in school age kids

what are treatment options for a patient with pediculosis captitis?
A
1% permethrin shampoo or Spinosad 0.9% topical suspension–> remove nits with a nit comb–> then repeat treatment in 7 days

what are infection control measures to practice if patient has peduclosis captitis?
A
- boil comb/hair accessories for 10 minutes
- items that cannot be washed should be put in a hot dryer for 20 minutes or put in sealed bags for 14 days
- wash clothing/bedding in hot water
