Over 20m carrying passengers - 24 acts
61m- 125m and all gas carriers - 12 acts
125m - 150m using tugs - including 4 acts with tugs
Over 150m - An additional 4 acts with tugs
Which pilots can carry out pilotage assessments?
1st class unrestricted pilot
PEC holder authorised by the harbour master
When does a PEC holder require a pilot onboard?
When vessel over 125m and using tugs but no tug endorsement
How long are PEC valid?
1 year
What are the duties of a PEC holder?
1 Maintain records of self pilotage acts
2. Endure pilot flag is flown during self pilotage
3. Report any changes to depths, navigable channels or navigation marks to the CHA
4. Report any incident/damage
5. Report to the harbour office when summoned by the harbour master
