P.E lesson 3 Flashcards
Commonly caused by overusing the body part, or
the direct application of force that is greater than
the body part can structurally withstand.
SPORT INJURIES
Are those that happen suddenly and
unexpectedly.
ACUTE INJURIES
Develop when the same group of muscles or
joints are overused for a long period of time.
* Can develop slowly without knowing it and it might
last long on practicing poor techniques and
training structures.
CHRONIC INJURIES
This happens when the ligaments
that connect the bone to the joint
are twisted or stretched.
SPRAIN
This happens when the ligaments in
the ankle bone are stretched or
twisted, resulting in pain, swelling
and stiffness.
ANKLE SPRAIN
This is caused by bumps or falls. The
skin turns blue or black because of
the bleeding of ruptured tissues
under the skin.
BRUISE
This is a minor head trauma caused by a
blow to the head. It may affect brain
functions and may result in loss of
consciousness, headache, dizziness and
short-term memory loss
CONCUSSION
These happen when the body skin
rubs off or tears, which is caused by
failing or sliding.
CUT AND ABRASION
This happens when a tooth or teeth
are dislodged, crack or break.
Usually caused by hit it the jaw.
DENTAL DAMAGE
This usually happens in the elbows
and shoulders because of a fall,
wherein the bone is forcefully
separated from its joint.
DISLOCATION
This happens when a high-impact
force cause a bone or bones to
break.
FRACTURE
bone do not pierce in the skin
Closed fracture
bone or bones pierce the skin
Open fracture
This happens when the muscle is
stretched or pulled too much,
causing the muscle fibers to tear.
STRAIN
– happens when there is pain and swelling of muscles
around the front pelvis and inner thighs
Groin Strain
results from the overstretching of hamstring muscles
which may result in bruising, pain and stiffness of the knee.
Hamstring Strain
This happens when ligaments,
tendons and cartilage of the knee
are damaged causing pain, swelling
and stiffness of the knee.
KNEE JOINT INJURY
This happens when the nose is hot
forcefully, which results in bleeding
or broken nose.
NOSE INJURY
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF PRICE?
P=PROTECTION R=Rest I=Immobilize C=Compress E=Elevation
is a partial or complete loss of consciousness resulting from a
temporary reduction of blood to the brain.
Fainting
is also called myocardial infraction, occurs when the blood
and oxygen supply to the heart is reduced, causing damage to the heart
Heart attack
are painfully involuntary muscle cramps that can occur
during and after exercise or working in a hot environment.
Heat cramps
is a milder form of heat related illness that can develop after
being exposed to high temperature.
Exhaustion
is a form of hyperthermia (exceptionally high fever).
Prolonged exposure to high temperature can cause the body’s
temperature control system to fail.
Other sports related injuries and their First aid
procedure
Heatstroke
occurs when a person’s breathing is faster and more
shallow than normal.
Hyperventilation
occurs when an outer layer of the skin is broken.
Open wound
occur when the normal function of the brain are disrupted by the
injury, disease, fever, poison or infection.
