Basic skill
a skill is taught to beginners, few decisions be made and fairly easy to teach/learnt quickly.
Complex skill
Skill that requires many decisions to be made, it is based up a skill that is basic but its time consuming to learn
Open skill
a skill which is performed in a certain way to deal with a changing or unstable enviroment
Closed skill
a skill which is not effected by the environment or performers with in it, tends to be done the same way each time
externally paced skill
skill is started because of external factors, the speed rate or pace is controlled by external factors
self paced skill
skill is started when performer decides to start it
gross skill
large scale movements which include big muscle groups, activities based upon strength, power or endurance
fine skill
movements which are small scale and precise, including smaller muscle groups, based upon accuracy and precision
Performance Goals
example is improvement based, focusing on their own performance getting better, not against other players
Outcome goal
focused aim on the result
Specific goal
target must be to the point
measurable goal
can be measured/compared
accepted goal
needs to be a goal that you can see yourself reaching
realistic goal
matched to the performers skill level
time bound goal
set for a particular time to be completed
Input stage includes what?
information taken in by the senses, using selective attention to identify the key stimulus or pieces of information.
decision making stage includes what?
select an appropriate response to the stimulus, takes place via short term memory holding the info from the current situation
Output stage includes what?
decision is sent to appropriate muscle groups to complete the movement
Feedback stage includes what?
Information is received intrinsically (yourself) or extrinsically (others) regarding the success of the action for future reference
information processing
where the performer makes and acts on decisions
Visual guidance
guidance you can see via a demo, poster or diagram
verbal guidance
guidance you can hear such as listen to instructions
manual guidance
guidance you can feel involving the coach moving/supporting you
mechanical guidance
guidance involving the use of an object/aid to help shape the skill
