PD- Amantadine DI Flashcards
1
Q
MoA of amantadine
A
We THINK it increases DA release and inhibits reuptake –> decreased rigidity, tremor, bradykinesia, L-dopa induced dyskinesia
2
Q
Precautions of amantadine
A
CHF, orthostatic hypotension, peripheral edema
3
Q
Does amantadine need renal adjustment?
A
Yes, it’s 90% eliminated by the kidneys
4
Q
Amantadine ADEs
A
orthostatic hypotension/falls, hallucinations, sedation, anticholinergic ADEs (sialorrhea, lacrimation, urination, defecation, GI effects, emesis), livedo reticularis (mottling of the skin with LE edema), NMS with abrupt D/C
5
Q
Amantadine DDIs
A
Flumist, quinine/quinidine, HCTZ, triamterene
