What pressure do HP Pumps operate at?
2000kpa
What pump does the ACTF&R use?
Centrifugal pumps use centrifugal force to push water from the inside of the pump outwards. Kinetic energy is converted into pressure energy. There are two main parts of centrifugal pumps which are the impeller and the casing.
What is the maximum lift in the ACT?
7.5m
Equation for Pressure head
P= Hx10
What is cavitation?
Cavitation is when water in a vacuum begins to boil creating vapour bubbles. These vapor bubbles when drawn through the eye (due to centrifugal force) begin to implode which can result in significant damage to the pump.
