A

A reticulated system is one that is divided into pressure zones each of which are supplied by at least one local reservoir. A reservoir is supplied via a trunk main by a water treatment plant which are in turn supplied by a water supply such as a dam.

Describe Cavitation

A

Water boils at a lower temperature in a vacuum. So when water pressure falls below vapour pressure on the suction side, local boiling occurs forming bubbles. These bubbles travel into the inlet then implode. Thousands of these implosions occur, causing damage to metal casings.
