Where does the demyelination occur in MS?
A
CNS, not PNS
-The myelin produced by oligodendrocytes is different than in PNS so the immune cells only target CNS

How do you read an MS MRI?
A
MS - white spots are lesions
Bone = white
Air = black
Fluid = dark gray

Prednisone
A
Given to reconstitute the BBB & reduce immune response -Same class and function as dexamethazone

What questions do you ask when trying to diagnose MS?
A
- Fatigue
- Tingling, pain or numbness
- Problems with balance and walking
- Changes in vision
- Depression/emotional changes
- Impaired thinking/understanding
- Poor muscle coordination
