A

What are the criticisms of the Medical Model of Disability

A
  1. Individualises disability, seen as a tragedy
  2. Does not account for social barriers
  3. Doctor is seen as the person who has the tools to “cure patient”

If they cannot cure the patient, the doctor treats the disability

If they cannot treat the disability, the doctor can fill forms in to allow the patient to seek support
