What to check for in a vehicle inspection?
- Cleanliness
- Damage
- Contraband
- Function of lights including overheads
- Function of brakes and steering.
- Emergency equipment in working order
- Radio
- Tires
- Trunk (Spare tire, jack, tire iron, flares, cones, fire extinguisher and first aid kit.)
How to prepare for duty?
Check, asses or put on:
- Mental state (Check personal problems at the door)
- Uniform (Command presence)
- Equipment
- Vest (WEAR YOUR FU*KING VEST!)
- Weapons (Function test daily)
- Vehicles (Washed before patrol- take pride in it)
What geographical locations should you be aware of?
- Crime targets (Banks, schools, stop and robs)
- Frequent criminal activity (Bars, pawnshops, dope houses)
- Schools
- Senior Citizens (Care homes)
- Known where physical barriers or restricted access spots are
What are the goals of tactical concepts?
1) Diminish the possibility of resistance to the application of proper tactics.
2) Raise the level beyond what the threat is willing to bear
3) Create an advantage for yourself and recognizable disadvantages for the threat. Proper tactics can increase officer, citizen, and threat safety and decreased use of force.
4) Once the concepts are learned you simply need to decide how they apply to each situation.
What is the purpose of a perimeter?
- Containment (Keep the bad guy / evidence inside)
- Isolation (Keep people, media, family and others out)
- Catch fleeing suspects
What to do when dealing with a barricaded subject?
- Contain
- Isolate
- Negotiate
- Terminate
What are the best ID types to identify a subject?
- Driver License
- Military ID
- Photo ID ( i.e., State inmate card)
When receiving a custody from another officer you should always do what?
Personally search them yourself, every time.
