Define patient consultation, collaboration and co-production
Consultation = asking members of the public their views about research, then using those to inform decision making. (useful for exploring sensitive topics, wide range of views)
Collaboration = ongoing partnership, decisions about the research are shared (range of skills/perspectives, help with recruitment and informed consent)
Co-production = public involved throughout every stage, design/delivery
What are the benefits of shared decision making with patients?
better adherence, creating better effectiveness and value
