What is ASA 1?
Healthy patient, non smoker, minimal alcohol intake
What is ASA 2?
Mild-moderate systemic disease such as well controlled diabetes, hypertension, mild lung disease, pregnancy, light smoker, social drinker, obese with BMI under 40 but over 35
What is ASA 3?
Severe disease which limits activity but is not incapacitating
Poorly controlled diabetes, poorly controlled hypertension, COPD, morbid obesity over 40, hepatitis, patients with a pacemaker, patients on dialysis and patients with substance abuse
What is ASA 5?
A dying patient who is not expected to live more than 24 hours
Organ failure

Declared braindead
