When packaging a patient which area do you secure first and why?
Start with the green first which is the waist and torso; this is incase the PT vomits you can roll the litter and maintain C-Spine.
Name considerations when packaging a patient.
Padding
Easy access to vitals
Stabilization, immobilization, protection
Lay blanked under PT so they can be lifted out of the litter for medical transfer
Environmental Protection
Injury avoidance - ie helmet, safety glasses, shield
What should be done for violent or combative PT?
Use hand restraints
Describe Horizontal Travel Restraint
Red webbing hold PT from going towards the head of the litter. Green/Yellow webbing hold PT from going towards the foot of the litter
