Relative excess of blood in vessels of tissue or organ
- Passive process, secondary phenomenon - Not like acute inflammation- active hyperaemia - Acute or chronic

Q
What is the pathophysiology of local acute congestion ?
A
DVT Vein blocked causing local acute congestion Blood backs up in veins, venules and capillaries Decreased outflow of blood Local, acute congestion Decreased pressure gradient Deceased flow across system No O2-> ischaemia and infacrtion
