what’s a pathogen?

A

a microorganism that causes diseases, they harm the host by releasing damaging cells or toxins

all viruses are pathogens

bacteria, protoctista, fungi can also be pathogens

what’s a virus?

A

a non-living organisms

only reproduce inside host cells (parasitic) - take over ribosomes and enzymes to make new virus particles.

they have no cells

contain a protein coat and strand of (genetic material) nucleic acids (DNA RNA)
