Summary
On the day of adjournment, a group of MPs led by Denzil Holles and Sir John Eliot demanded the passing of three formal resolutions against:
- The growth of Arminianism
- The levying of Tonnage and Poundage
- The actions of those who paid Tonnage and Poundage
When the Speaker refused to delay the adjournment, they held him in his chair until the resolutions passed

Causation
Charles ordered Parl. to adjourn when they looked into breaches of the Petition of Right and Charles’ treatment of those who did not pay T + P.
Passing of Three Resolutions:
Consequence
Parliament now retaliating directly against Charles actions which could be argued were purposefully fuelled.
Led to Charles embarking on Personal Rule for 11 yrs.
Parliamentary opponents imprisoned:
- John Eliot (one of the group of MPs who forced through three resolutions) died in the Tower of London in 1632.
