- 1625 Parliament dissolved when HofC began discussing impeachment against Buckingham.
- 1626 Parliament again launches an attack on Buckingham through impeachment > dissolved
- 1628 Parliament session ended due to attacks on B
Cadiz expedition:
Significance
Led to Charles’ staunch defending of Buckingham leading to the dissolution of two parliaments year after year, stirring up opposition to him.
- Dissolution of parliament also meant that funds/taxation was not approved, so Charles had to look for other methods like the Forced Loan etc.
Charles supported a war against Spain based largely on an emotional response to the humiliation he had received in Madrid (1623).
- Shows his personality as stubborn.
