What are the purpose of roots?
Anchorage (the plant firmly in the soil) & they enable the plant to uptake water and nutrients

Provides above ground support to the plant, to which leaves and flowers are attached
What are flowers?
Flowers are the plant’s organs of sexual reproduction
What is a node?
A node is the point on a stem between 2 nodes
What is a internode?
An internode is the space between a stem and 2 nodes
What is a bud?
A bud is an underdeveloped stem or flower which if given the correct stimulus, will form a new stem or flower
What are bud scales?
Bud scales are outer leaves protecting the bud, wrapped around it tightly

Apical and axillary bud
Where will you find an apical bud?
At the end of a stem
What is apical dominance?
Apical dominance is when an apical bud hinhibits the development of an axillary bud
Where will you find an axillary bud?
In the angle between the steam and leaf, known as the axil

The stalk supporting a flower
