Ocular Lens or Eyepiece
part you look at with your eye, usually 10x magnification
Tube
reflects light up to the viewer’s eye
Revolving Nosepiece
allows for a quick change of objectives, set up for far focal
Low Power Objective
first lens you see, 4x
Medium Power Objective
also called as the OIO (oil-immersed objective) second lens you see, 10x
High Power Objective
higher magnification, 43x
Stage Clip
used to hold or keep the slide in place
Diaphragm
used to vary the amount of light passing through the slide, better if light is low
Illuminator or Light Source
sends light up through the diaphragm and slide for viewing
Neck or Arm
used to safely transport or transfer the microscope
Stage
this is where you put your specimen
Coarse Adjustment
used to make large changes in focus, NEVER use in high power
Fine Adjustment
used to make small adjustments in focus
Base
used to safely transport the microscope
Inclination Joint
used to give comfort to the one using the microscope
