Q

What is the particle theory of matter?

A

1) The particles more faster as temperatures rise
2) Particles are attracted to each other
3) Particles are in constant motion
4) Different substances are made up of different particles
5) matter is made up of particles with tiny spaces between them

Q

What is the classification of matter

A

Matter to pure substance of mixture. Pure substance goes out to compound or elements. Mixture goes out to homogeneous and heterogeneous.

Q

What are the two types of pure substances?

A

Element or compound
Element: a substance that cant be broken down into a simpler substance. ex, gold, silver, oxygen, iron
compound: a pure substance that is made from 2 or more elements that are combined together chemically. eg. sugar, table salt, distilled water

Q

What are the different forms of mixtures and what are examples for both?

A

Heterogeneous and homogenous

heterogeneous: a mixture in which different parts are visible also known as mechanical mixture. ex. cereal, pizza, sand in water
homogeneous: looks like a pure substance but contains more then one type of particle also known as solution. eg. pepsi, tap water, air
