What where the characteristics of the Greek Parthenon?
A
- Built in Classical phase
- Built at highest point on the rock of the acroplolis
- One of the first and largest built
- Dedicated to the goddess Athena
- Most carefully surveyed and measured building in the world
- Doric order with lines that are straight and geometric.

Is Stylobate: is convex and curved and is repeated in the ceiling.

A
Tilt inwards and are not uniformly spaced, they stand closer to each other at the corners to overcome the illusion of concavity.
Not all columns are the same diameter

A
- This temple was dedicated to all the gods.
- Romans believed in many gods.
- Circular temple.
- Dedicated to the gods of the 7 planets.
- Central dome is open to the sky.
- Oculus: central eye is the only source of light and symbolises the sun.
- Outside of dome was covered in golden tiles.
- Priest would sacrifice a beast in the temple.
- Floor slopes gradually towards the centre.
- Walls are 7m thick.
