Extension
the process of straightening or the state of being straight
Intubation
the process, where a healthcare provider inserts a tub through a persons, mouth or nose then down their trachea. it keeps the trachea open, so that the air can get through. It can connect to a machine that delivers air or oxygen.
Nasogastric
a tube that is passed through the nose and down the nostrils and esophagus into the stomach.
Ventilation
the exchange of air between the lungs and the atmosphere, so that oxygen could be exchanged for carbon dioxide in the alveoli
Concussion
mild traumatic brain injury that affects brain function
Puncture
a wound made by a pointed and sharp object.
Salivary
relating to saliva or the glands that secrete it
Parotid
salivary glands, that just sit in front of the ears
Sialolithiasis
salivary stones. Hardened mineral deposits that form in the salivary glands.
Dentate
having teeth or pointed conical projections
Turgor
the normal state of elasticity of the skin
Mitral valve
a cardiac valve consisting of two triangular flap, switch or low, only on directional blood flow from the left atrium to the left ventricle.
Tricuspid valve
between the heart two right chambers, and it opens and closes to ensure that blood flows in the correct direction
Pacemaker
electronic device that is implemented into the body to monitor heart rate and rhythm. It gives the heart electrical stimulation when it is not being normally.
Defibrillator
devices that apply and electric charge or current to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat
