Rake Grasp
Age: 6 M
baby contact smaller objects using raking motion with fingers extended
Inferior scissors grasp
Age: 7 M
tiny objects are brought into the palm with flexed fingers in a raking motion
Scissors Grasp
Age: 8 M
small object is held between thumb & lateral side of index finger; slightly curved
Inferior Pincer Grasp
Age: 9 M
small object is held between ventral surfaces of the thumb and index fingers (thumb moves abd –> opp)
Pincer Grasp - Pad to Pad
Age: 10 M
small object is held between pads of the opsed thumb and the index finger
Neat (fine) pincer grasp - tip to tip
Age: 12 M
small object is held between tip of opposed thumb & index finger (precise prehension of tiny objects)
