Civil Law
Deal with breaches of contracts or disputes between individuals. Mainly done at county court or in more serious cases , at High Court . Mostly no juries at civil court.
Criminal Law
Magistrate court for minor offences.
Crown court for serious offences. Deals with people accused of committing crimes or breaking law.
Common Law
Laws made by the rulings and decisions of judges over many years .
Council of Europe
Intergovernmental organisation founded 1949 encouraging European countries to cooperate with one another.
European court of human rights best known for part of council.
Localism
When people in particular area able to make decisions about policies which affect their local area.
Juries
12 citizens selected from the local electoral role to make decision on case.
Refusal = £1000 fine
Tribunals
Deal with special complaints and issues ( inferior courts ) . Simple + informal procedure
