part 8 Flashcards
1
Q
What is a NSTEMI?
A
unstable lesion causing partial occlusion
2
Q
What will the ECG show with a NSTEMI?
A
- ST segment depression which resolves with relief of CP
- T wave inversion
3
Q
What is a NSTEMI caused by?
A
-myocardial ischemia: cardiac contusion, PE, brain bleed, Dig effect
4
Q
- results from a vessel that is completely occluded by a thrombus
- level of necrosis is determined by collateralization
- full necrosis takes 4-6hours
A
STEMI
5
Q
NSTEMI:
- ST depression and/or T-wave inversion
- this can resolve
A
ischemia
6
Q
STEMI:
-ST segment elevation
A
injury
7
Q
STEMI:
T-wave inversion
A
ischemia
8
Q
STEMI:
abnormal Q wave
A
necrosis
9
Q
What are the diagnostics and treatments for ACS/MI?
A
- thallium scans/ nuclear stress test
- Echo rest and stress ultrasound
- coronary angiography: NPO 6-12 hours and may get beta blocker
- PCI: balloon, stent, angio
- Fibrinolytics
10
Q
What are the complications of an MI?
A
- dysrhythmias
- heart failure
- cardiogenic shock
- papillary muscle function
- ventricular aneurysm
- pericarditis
- dressler syndrome
