if more than 3 occlusions what procedure is necessary?
CABG
What are the complications of an MI?
-dysrhythmias (most common): tacky, brady, irregular, V-fib is lethal, disruption of intrinsic rhythm
-pulmonary congestion:
cariogenic shock: left vent failure, tissues become deprived of O2
-papillary muscle dysfunction: infarct at or near mitral valve muscles
-ventricular aneurysm: infarcted wall becomes thin and weak
-pericarditis: inflammation of pericardium (2-3 days following MI) assess friction rub
What is the main cause of sudden cardiac death?
acute ventricular dysrhythmia, high incidence of reoccurrence
- 24 hour hotter monitor
- implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD)
