Conception to birth. Growth ffrom a single cell to a complete organism with a brain and behavioral capabilities
Pre-natal period
From birth to 18 or 24 months
Infancy period
From the end of infancy to age 5 or 6. Children learnt to become more self sufficient and to care for themselves
Early childhood also called as preschool years
6 to 11 years of age. Children master the fundamentals skills of reading, writing, and arithmetic. Achievement become more central theme
Middle childhood and Late childhood also called as Elementary school years
10 or 12 years of age to 18 or 22 years of age. Rapid physical changes
Adolescences
Begin in the late teens or early 20 upto 30. Establishing personal and economic independence.
Early adulthood
40-60 years of age. Achieving and maintaining satisfaction in a career
Middle adulthood
60 and lasts until death. Last longer than any other period of development
Late adulthood
Is person’s age in terms of biological health. Functional capacities of a person’s vital organ
Biological age
Is an individual adaptive capacities compared with those of other individuals of the same chronological age.
Psychological age
Refers to connectedness with others and the social role individual adapts
Social age
Refers to an organisms biological inheritance
Nature
Refers to its environmental experience
Nurture
