Part 4 Flashcards
Way to identify families and household based on their share levels of education, income, and occupation
Socioeconomic status
Blueprint or guideline shared by a group of people that specifies how to live
Culture
Responsible for voluntary actions, thinking, and processing. Interprets sensory and and make decision
Forebrain
Sensory relay for the brain. All of our senses except smell are routed here before being directed to the other areas of the brain
Thalamus
Processing both emotion and memory. Sense of smell projects directly here, therefore, smell can evoke emotional response in ways other sensory cannot.
Limbic system
Essential structure for learning and memory.
Hippocampus
Involved in our experiences of emotion and in tying emotional meaning to our memories
Amygdala
Regulates a homeostatic process including the regulation of body temperature, appetite, and blood pressure
Hypothalamus
Controls motor movement and sensory processing. Structure located deep withing the brain, between forebrain and hindbrain
Midbrain
Located at the back of the head and looks like an extension of the spinal cord. Manages autonomic functions (breathing and heart rate)
Hindbrain
Connect the brain and spinal cord
Pons
Receives messages from tendons, joints, and structure in our ear to control balance, coordination movement, and motor skills.
Cerebellum
Regulating all sorts of bodily functions and ultimately controlled through interactions of hypothalamus and pituitary gland
Hormones
Voluntary muscle movement, memory, and intelligence
Cerebrum
