What was the significance of Alexander Fleming
. By chance, Alexander Fleming discovered that a piece of mold on an old lab experiment would kill germs
. He called it Penicillin
. Penicillin would kill germs and it would kill staphylococcus which was untreatable before
. A limitation was that he could not make it pure enough for humans so he stopped there
. The limitation was overcome by Florey and Chain
What was the significance of Florey and Chain
. Florey and chain discovered about penicillin from communication
. They developed penicillin and found a way to purify it
. They could now use penicillin on humans and it worked
How did government improve health
. The US government mass produced penicillin which was used in WW2
How did chance improve health
. By chance Alexander Fleming discovered Penicillin
How did communication improve health
. Florey and Chain learnt about Penicillin from a book written by Alexander Fleming and, they built on Penicillin making it useful for humans

The Rowntree Report stated that 30% of people were in poverty despite working full time
Why did government attitudes change
. The Booth Report and the Rowntree report showed that people still needed help even after working full time which opposes the governments Laissez Faire Attitude
. Many people in the Boer War were not well enough to fight as they were malnourished showing that the government needed to help the people
