Part 2 of antihypertensive Flashcards
the parasympathetic nervous system receptors are?
long-fibers, ACh (acetylcholine) neurotransmitter, long preganglionic and short postganglionic
what are some organs that the parasympatheitc nervous system targets?
smooth muscle, cardiac muscle, glands
what is the first fiber that is released in sympathetic nervous system?
ACh
what is released in the second fiber for sympathetic nervous system?
NE (Norepinephrine) neurotransmitter
what is the neurotransmitter released at gangalia?
ACh
what are some organs that are targeted by sympathetic
heart, blood vessels, skeletal muscle
which fiber comes close to touching the target organ?
fiber in parasympathetic
ganglia are located?
outside CNS (brain/spinal cord
what is the sympathetic fibers?
short preganglionic and long postganglionic,
-ganglia are FAR from organ
-NEAR the spine
what is the formula for cardiac output?
SV (stroke volume)xHR
what is stroke volume?
amount of blood pumped out of the heart’s left ventricle
BP forumla?
CO (amount of blood pumped in 1 min) x SVR (blood being pumped thru-out body)
if high CO and SVR?
high blood pressure
what are cardiac factors?
heart rate and contractility (isotropic)
what are some factors for circulating volume?
salt (water follows salt, higher preload) and aldosterone (Mineralocorticoid- secreted by adrenal coretex)
what drugs treat cardiac output?
beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, centrally acting adrenergics
what drugs treats circulating volume?
ACE inhibitors and diuretics
what raises your SVR?
hormones (vasodila/contric), peripheral sympathetic receptors (alpha and betas/ epinephrine/no), CNS, Local
how to treat SVR if hormones affected?
vasodilators, prostaglandins, ACE inhibitors, calcium channel blockers, Angiotensin 2 blockers
how do Prostaglandins Help Lower Blood Pressure?
Some prostaglandins help lower blood pressure by causing vasodilation and promoting sodium and water excretion.
what receptors are blocked with drugs for the peripheral sympathetic receptors?
alpha 1 and beta blockers
how to lower bp with CNS issues?
drug: centrally acting adrenergics (alpha 2: nerve terminals, smooth muscle, platelets)
how to lower Local high bp?
peripherally acting adrenergics
examples of calcium channel blockers?
benzothiazepines, dihydropyridines, phenylalklamines
