yellow: adipose
red: hematopoietic
Where is red marrow found?
flat and irregular bones
-end of long bones, vertebrae, sacrum, sternum, ribs, flat cranial bones, and scapulae

its a protein within plasma
What do erythrocytes do?
- RBC’s
- 02 transportation, carries 02 to tissues
What do Leukocytes do?
- WBC’s
- protect from infection
- fights infection
What do thrombocytes do?
- platelets
- promote coagulation
- prevent bleeding
What stimulates erythropoiesis?
- stimulated by hypoxia
- controlled by erythropoietin - released primarily by kidneys
- influenced by nutrient availability
What is a good indicator of RBC production?
reticulocytes
phagocytosis, early phase of inflammation
neutrophil
