Q

Results of the study. What are these results NOT a result of in the experiment?

A

Cerebellar patients pitch discrimination threshold was 5.5x higher than the control patients, which means they have significantly poorer pitch discrimination.
Patients slower to discriminate pitch due to ataxia.

These differences not due to working memory differences, attention spans, or audiograms. This means that auditory deficit can be ascribed to effects of cerebellar disease.

Q

Hypothesis of study

A

Cerebellum is involved in regulating the acquisition of incoming sensory data across al sensory modalities. Cerebellum then rapidly influencing motor systems acquiring the data, with the goal being acquiring the best sensory data acquisition by the body.

Study tested auditory perception by means of pitch discrimination task.
