Rigidity
Bradykinesia
Resting Tremor
Impaired Postural Reflexes
Hoehn Yar stage I
Minimal or absent disability, unilateral symptoms
Hoehn Yar stage II
Minimal bilateral or midline involvement, no balance issues
Hoehn Yar stage III
Impaired balance, some restrictions in activity
Hoehn Yar stage IV
All symptoms present and severe; stands and walks only with assistance
Hoehn Yar stage V
Confinement to bed or wheelchair
What cognitive issues come along with Parkinson’s Disease?
In the advanced stages intellectual impairment/ dementia occurs such as bradyphrenia (slowed thoughts)
Adverse effects of Sinemet (6)
1) Nausea and Vomiting,
2) Orthostatic Hypotension,
3) Cardiac Arrhythmias,
4) Involuntary Movements,
5) Psychosis
6) On-off phenomenon
