What is an atrial line?
A monitoring device used to measure blood pressure or obtain blood samples.
What do you do if atrial line is displaced?
Apply direct pressure to limit blood loss and call the nurse.
What is a central venus pressure catheter?
A central venus pressure catheter is used for measuring pressures in the right atria and superior vena cava. This allows Drs to assess the function of the R side of the heart.
What is a Hickman catheter?
It is an Indewelling right atrial catheter inserted through the cephalic or internal jugular vein that does to the right atrium. This is used for longterm administration of substances.
What substances are administered using the Hickmans catheter?
Chemotherapeutic agents and antibiotics
What is a Pulmonary Artery or Swan-Ganz Catheter
It is a soft flexible catheter that is inserted through a vein into the pulmonary artery. It provides continuous measurements on pulmonary artery pressure
What should be avoided with a Swan-Ganz Catheter?
Excessive movement of the neck, head, and extremities to avoid disrupting the line at the insertion site.
