parent structures Flashcards
sciatic nerve + branches
splits into tibial nerve and common fibular nerve
tibial nerve branches off into the medial plantar nerve and lateral plantar nerve
common fibular branches off into superficial fibular nerve and deep fibular nerve
what nerve branches off the tibial nerve and is purely cutaneous?
sural nerve
what landmark does the tibial nerve branch into the medial plantar nerve and lateral plantar nerve?
after the tarsal tunnel
what area of the leg does the superficial fibular nerve innervate?
lateral lower leg and dorsal surface of the feet
what area of the leg does the deep fibular nerve innervate?
in between the first and second digits of the feet
name the arterial supply of the leg starting from the external iliac artery
external iliac artery –> femoral artery –> politeal artery –> branches into the anterior tibial artery and posterior tibial artery
when does the external iliac artery become the femoral artery?
when it travels under the inguinal ligament
when does the femoral artery become the popliteal artery?
after adductor canal travels posteriorly through the adductor hiatus
when does the popliteal artery become the anterior tibial artery?
through aperture in interosseous membrane
what does the anterior tibial artery branch off into?
dorsalis pedis artery
what does the posterior tibial artery turn into?
travels through tarsal tunnel into sole and divides into the medial and lateral plantar artery
what artery branches off the posterior tibial artery?
fibular artery and runs laterally
what nerve starts in the inguinal area and branches off of the femoral nerve? is it cutaneous or motor?
saphenous
purely sensory!
what is the arterial supply pathway?
external iliac artery –> femoral artery –> popliteal artery –> posterior tibial artery –> anterior tibial artery + fibular artery
when does the popliteal artery become the posterior tibial artery?
soleal line
