Papers and boards Flashcards

1
Q

How are papers made?

A
  • Fine cellulose fibres made from mainly wood are pressed together with water and then dried to make paper.
  • Chemicals like brightening bleach are applied to the pulp to attain desired textures.
  • Can also be coated with an agent that plugs the microscopic pits between the fibres resulting in a smooth, flat surface
