Compliant Materials
A material that can be scored, folded and cut with basic tooling to form items such as nets for packaging.
Why is corrugated card suitable for a take away food container?
It is compliant material (shaped with a die cutter), food safe, insulating, lightweight, single use (easily recycled) and biodegradable.
Layout paper
Thin translucent paper with a smooth surface used for sketching, technical drawing and tracing
Cartridge paper
off-white paper with a smooth surface used for rendering, sketching, printing
Tracing paper
A translucent paper used for copying images when sketching
Corrugated card
Carton board outer layer and corrugated middle lay giving the material to provide protection against impact
Duplex Card
To layers of paper with the exterior often coated to make it more water resistant, Used for food packaging, milk cartons.
Stock forms
A sizes. Each A size is half the size of the other previous one. Measured in GSM. Photocopying paper tends to be 80gsm and cartridge around 140gsm.
