2/3 of Devon is an area of outstanding beauty(AONB) and demand for housing pushes up prices but it is hard to increase supply as planning permission is really hard to get. Average income in Devon is 10% lower than UK average but only 3% cheaper than average.

Explain the Eden project.

A

Employs 700 people and it has created 3000 other jobs. Generated 1billion for the economy but visitor numbers are falling as there is evidence that once people go they do not come back. 97% of visitors arrive by car even though the Eden project tries to be sustainable.

A

Improved economy and barns have been converted into accommodation. Log cabins and health spas have popped up but barn conversions has led to reduction of nesting places for birds.
