    • collect and put together information from different texts

A
  • list facts
    • in quotes

  1. not choosing points from the lines referenced

  • language part of AO2
  • explain how the writer uses language (and structure) to acheive their purpose and influence readers
  • use technical terms to support your analysis of language (and structure)

A
  • focus on methods the writer has used
  • and their effect on the reader

A

analysing:

  • sentance forms
  • language features
  • use of words

What needs to be done to acheive full marks in q2?

A
  • answers need to be perceptive
  • perceptive is thinking beyond the obvious
  • need to avoid writing about vague, generalised effects (that could be applied to any text) by making your comments specific to the text you are reading

How do you avoid generalised comments?

A
  • think about: what is the desirect effect the writer is aiming to acheive in this extract
    • could be boredem, energy, danger, humour etc.
    • then look at language used to acheive this effects
    • use language devices for this

How is the analysis developed?

A
  • it is not enough to simple identify the language devices
  • you must explain the effect on the reader
    • think ‘why did the writer use that device? Does it make me feel a certain way / feel a certain thing / emphasise a certain point’
  • apply to context of the extract
