what is a minor sentence
a minor sentence is a sentence that is short and does not include a verb they are usually used to create a conversational effect. This is a (sentence type)
what is a simple sentence
a simple sentence includes a noun, verb and subject. simple sentences are commonly used to offer facts, so they are easily understood by the reader, they can also create emphasis. (This is a sentence type)
what is a compound sentence
a compound sentence is a sentence conjoined by a singular conjunction, for example “I love my long hair, but I brushing it is very time consuming”. this sentence type is used to create more detail. (This is a sentence type)
what is a declarative function
a declarative sentence is when someone declares something its in the name, for example “I am declaring thAT all men are to be made extinct.” (this is a sentence function (.)
what is an exclamatory function
an exclamatory function is to be used when you are shouting something and the sentence ends with an exclamation mark (!)
what is an interrogative function
when you’re asking some questions for example “what did you have for breakfast?” (?)
what is an imperative sentence
when you give demands for example in a recipe book (.)
what is a noun phrase
a noun phrase is an adjective+noun, for example “the shiny dress”
what is a verb phrase
a verb phrase is an auxiliary/modal + verb, for example “could I grab a biscuit”
what is a subordinate clause?
a dependant clause, that adds some extra information to the main clause (independent clause). the subordinate clause cannot stand by itself, and their meaning is dependant upon that of the independent clause
FOR EXAMPLE: the student failed the test(independent clause) because she didn’t study(dependant clause)
what is an independent clause?
the main clause that stand alone in a sentence without any additional information being given to it.

what is a complex sentence?
a complex sentence is formed when you join a main clause with a subordinate clause with a connective

a descriptive technique where the describing words come after the thing they are describing
