Paper 1 Flashcards
1
Q
Criteria for non-parametric inferential tests
A
Mann Whitney U test: ordinal and independent measures.
Chi-squared: nominal and independent measures.
Binomial sign test: nominal and repeated measures.
Spearman’s Rho correlation coefficient: ordinal and correlation test.
Wilcoxon signed ranks test: ordinal and repeated measures.
2
Q
Standard deviation
A
- Find the mean of the scores
- Do each score - the mean
- Square each result (d^2)
- Add these results together
- do (sum of results) divided by (number of participants - 1)
- This is the variance
- Do the square root of the variance
3
Q
Strength and weakness of nominal data
A
- Strength: easy to collect (because it only requires a headcount), compared with other participants and to put in graphs.
- Weakness: can only analyse with the mode.

How much time will you spend at an event?
How many viewers watch this show?
(Time, temperature)
