there is sometimes a hypoechoic tail…don’t mistake for mass

What happens with hemorrhagic pancreatitis?
pancreatic enzymes are released, necrosis of tissue and rupture of blood vessels.
Phlegmonous pancreatitis is?
the inflammation from released pancreatitic enzymes with irregular borders and hypoechoic
What are pancreatic abcesses usually caused from?
post-surgical pancreatitis or infection from another area.
What are some causes of chronic pancreatitis?
biliary disease alcoholism hypercalcemia hyper lipidemia acute pancreatitis
What are the symptoms of chronic pancreatitis?
severe abdomen pain, jaundice and weight loss, diabetes, and fatty stools.
What labs will be increased with chronic pancreatitis?
panc enzymes
What will chronic pancreatitis look like on US?
small, echogenic, irregular borders, w/ calcifications

pancreatitis and trauma
