What is pain?
A
An unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage

What is nociception?
A
The neural mechanism by which an individual detects the presence of a potentially harmful stimulus. Transduction, transmission, modulation and perception.

What is hyperalgesia?
A
Abnormally high levels of pain from noxious stimuli ie. blunt pin-prick.

What is allodynia?
A
Pain from a stimulus not normally painful ie. cotton wool.
