what is it
A
a malformation of the lymphatic system that results in a cyst filled with lymphatic fluid.
most commonly a congenital abnormality

A
in the posterior triangle of the neck on the left side.
in the neck or armpit

when may it be seen
A
- on antenatal scans
- picked up on routine baby checks
- discovered later when noticed incidentally

key features of lump
A
- can be v large
- soft
- non-tender
- transilluminates

complications
A
- interfere with feeding, swallowing or breathing
infected: hot, red, tender - haemorrhage into cyst

A
- watch + wait as it’s benign
- aspiration (temporary improvement)
- surgical removal
- sclerotherapy
