PA-LOD Flashcards
When FLCH is active, do the auto throttles adjust to protect speed?
No
If an autopilot is engaged on takeoff prior to acceleration height and selecting CLB power, what FMA modes become active?
Pitch: V/S
Roll: HDG HOLD or LNAV(if armed in takeoff)
When will the FMS TDU auto-upload NADP 1?
Anytime an airport has at least one runway that requires NADP 1 performance, all runways at that airport will upload NADP 1.
Always verify/update FMS ACCEL HT as necessary.
Does V/S mode have over speed or stall protection? Can it fly away from an MCP selected altitude?
No, over-speeds or under speeds can occur
Yes
What happens if you select the SPD switch while climbing or descending in VNAV or FLCH?
• A/T mode becomes SPD
• Vertical mode becomes V/S
What are the 4 Speed-On-Pitch modes?
•TO
•GA
•FLCH
•VNAV SPD
How is speed controlled while in VNAV?
Through the FMS or with speed intervention
What is the “MAX” altitude in the VNAV CRZ page?
Highest altitude at which the aircraft can be operated. It is the lowest of:
•Max certified altitude
•Thrust limited altitude
•Buffet or maneuver limited altitude
What does the VNAV CRZ pg RECMD altitude account for?
Forecast winds and temperatures aloft along the route
When will the FMC calculate a T/D point?
After the end of descent is entered. An altitude constraint must be located with a fix on the legs page in order to have a T/D
When will the vertical deviation scale (football) display on the ND?
When the FMS is in the ACT DES mode
Once the aircraft is in “on approach” mode, will it descend when below the VNAV path? How does extending flaps affect this?
• No. Even with the speed window open, it will not descend below the path.
• Extending flaps, while descending in VNAV SPD below the VNAV path, will result in the aircraft leveling off until intercepting the VNAV path.
What FMA changes occur when engaging an autopilot during GA?
A/T: SPD
Pitch: V/S
Roll: HDG HOLD
What happens to cruise altitude when a GA switch is pushed?
The higher of the altitude in the MCP altitude window or the highest altitude in the missed approach procedure becomes the new cruise altitude
