p6 Flashcards
What is Newton’s 3rd Law? -
Whenever one object exerts a force on a second object, the second object exerts an equal and opposite force on the first object
How do you move yourself forward while on a skateboard? By pushing __ on the __.
backwards down; ground
Why does the cannon move slower than the cannonball when their motion is a reaction to the same force?
The cannon is much more massive than the cannonball, therefore it takes more force for it to be moved.
The cannon has more mass, so the reaction is less than the cannon ball
Why don’t action/reaction forces cancel out if they are equal and opposite?
The 2 objects receive the same amount of force, but they don’t necessarily receive the equal amount of change because of the difference in their masses.
